To the Marks Family
As an OR nurse at Mercy for 38 yrs,
I came to know your father as a very competent doctor and then as a caring physician for my parents and my husband and myself.
He always guided us in the right direction and was always there for us.
He was a student of my husband at St. Johns Prep, so their visits were like chat sessions.
The care he gave your mother was beautiful to behold and a further attest to the kind of person that he was.
Unfortunately, weather and distance will prevent me from attending the services; but know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
RIP Dear Dr. Marks
Sincerely, Deanna Lennong

It is a great. honor and a blessing to pay tribute to Dr. Alfred Marks. He made the whole world light up with his dedication & love for his patients and his humorous funny stories. He always manged to bring sunshine into his patients rooms at Mercy Hospital with his kind and sweet smile.
When I reflect on my many fond memories of Dr. Marks my thoughts drift to one of Ralph Waldo Emerson's quotes. When you were born you were crying and everyone else was smiling. Live your life so that at the end you're the one who is smiling and everyone else is crying. Dr. Marks is now experiencing that joy in Heaven because of the way he lived his life on earth. You were a great role model and healer for so many of us. Thank you for saving and caring for my late husband Lenny. Marks Rest in peace!
My sincere condolences to the entire Marks Family.
Fondly,
Anne Marie Vista

Dr. Marks was unique. He was such a wonderful person. I worked with Dr. Marks at Mercy Medical Center. He cared for my mother when she was a patient at Mercy in the Intensive Care unit. Dr. Marks always supported the Nurses and he was an invaluable source of support, information and caring for the staff members at the hospital. I will never forget all his great works and beautiful smile.
Thank you to all in the Marks family for sharing such a beautiful human being.
God bless him! He often shared many stories about his family. I felt as though he was part of my family.

Please accept my deepest condolence over the passing of your father and grandfather. He was such an integral part of my years at Mercy Medical Center and even after Dr Marks retired, he graced us with his wisdom at the Ethics Committee. He will be missed.

Yesterday I lost one of my very dear friends, Dr. Alfred Marks. We first met in 1959 when we moved into Merrick and have remained close ever since. Together with his beloved Anne, we shared weddings and celebrated the success of our children and births of grandchildren as they were added to our family trees, More New Years eve luncheons and parties were spent together than I can even begin to count. Even more than a dear and close friend, Al was our family Doctor, the first one we called when a medical emergency arose, and, regardless of the hour, he was always willing and ready to come to our assistance. I can't begin to imagine a future without knowing he is at the end of a phone ready to arrange to meet for lunch or dinner. His devotion to Anne and his family was inspiring and now, dear friend, you are at peace enjoying a reunion with the love of your life, Anne. May God hold you closely in the palm of his hand and keep you close until we meet again. Affectionately, Ellen
