Even though I didn’t know you very long, your impact on the heaney family’s life is something incredible. You guided them, taught them, and made them feel loved and special. Watch over your family, especially your granddaughters Sam, Caitlyn, and Jess. They are very important and nice people who I can tell learned some of that from you. You may be gone, but the things you have done for your family and the police will live on.
Rest easy, and enjoy paradise.
John

Sorry to have heard of Arties death. While I was in Dist.31, I had the extreme pleasure in knowing Artie. As a Sgt. at the time he was someone that I thought was a Gentleman in the true sense of the word.
After Artie retired and went into law practice, I had the pleasure of speaking with him on a couple of occassions and he was still the Artie I remembered from years gone by.
May God in his mercy grant you eternal rest

With great sadness I send my condolences to the Heaney family. Art (aka Clark Kent) was a wonder fellow Transit Cop. Though we only occasionally worked together as cops, we had created a friendship that lasted throughout our careers. May he rest in peace and may God Bless him and the Heaney family.

He was always a gentleman with the brightest smile and was well respected by all of us who worked for him. I also had the pleasure of working with him when he represented one of my family members as our attorney but most importantly I was truly blessed to consider him a friend. Jim Devlin

I first knew Dennis from World Chrysler Plymouth and then when I became a NYC Transit Cop much to my surprise Artie was there, Dennis' brother. Artie was in Employee Relations at the time and my old friend Johnny Maye worked for him. Artie was always a gentlemen and always had an upbeat perspective on things. Unlike so many others Artie was there to help not hinder he will be truly missed.

Although I only knew Mister Heaney for a short period of time, he was a wonderful man. The stories about him that his family share with me always tell the same overall message; Mister Heaney was one who put others before himself. His concern for others didn't end when he hung the uniform up at the end of his remarkable career in public safety; he continued his life-long quest to make others happy, comfortable, and accepted. Mister Heaney, you'll be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing you and if I could be a fraction of the Police Officer you were, I would be honored. Thank you for sharing your insight with me. Rest in peace, sir.

My condolences to the Heaney family on their great loss. My father and brothers knew Art from the great work he did in the transit police department, while I got to know him in his second career as a lawyer. In both of those callings he was amazingly generous with his time and never missed an opportunity to support and elevate other people. A life well lived indeed.
