I met Roger in April 2014 when I started my job at 432 Park. Most days he was the first friendly face I saw in the morning, and as an office manager, I often worked very closely with him every day. He was personable, eager to lend a hand or share advice on how to make things better in the office, and I often spoke with him about our lives, sharing stories, telling jokes. He is already missed so much, and I know all of us here in the building are deeply saddened by his loss. The entire Balan family is in our thoughts and prayers.

I have known Roger since March of this year. Others in our office new him for much longer at 432 Park Ave. Daily he greeted us in the morning and on many days we saw him again at lunch. He seemed to be always present in the building and we considered him to be a colleague due to his interest and concern for our activity and well being. I personally worked with him on many occasions along with my staff and have had numerous conversations about life and family. We will miss him greatly and we are thankful to have known him.
Our Deepest Sympathies

Roger was an amazing person, a great man and one of the most generous people I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet and work with. He worked hard, loved his family, was so proud of his girls and looked forward to relaxing at the beach with family – and he had a wicked sense of humor. I had the pleasure of working with him at 432 Park for over 7 years and he was indispensable at his job and took care of us all. I will truly miss him.
To his lovely wife and beautiful daughters - If one day you wish to see him again, don’t look anywhere just close your eyes and he will appear. On the days you miss him, search in your heart; there you can feel him, be with him and embrace him. For the person can only be physically gone but never the life lived and the memories shared. Have faith and be strong.
Our deepest condolences,
Melanese Richens-Moody & Chad Richens

Roger my heart aches with sorrow. The world has lost one of the kindest and gentlest human beings it has ever known. You left us all too soon and we will miss you forever. I just thank God that I had the pleasure to share growing up with you. From our roots in el Vedado and Santa Teresa in Cuba to our days in Brooklyn and Freeport I had the chance to see you grow into the fine man you became. I know that as I write this with tears streaming down my face that you are reunited with our grandparents, your mother Mirta and all the loved ones that touched your life. This is not a good bye as you live within my heart and I know we will be reunited down the road. I love you cousin.

Roger, there are no words to express my sorrow on how you left us. You'll always be the catcher who caught our winning one game playoff championship at the old Freeport Stadium. I thank the Good Lord that I was your pitcher that day. Never forget the memories of Raynor Field where we honed our baseball skills that taught so many how it was done. I know that you know that I could never take the way you left us in a quiet manner, therefore, I called in two air strikes on your behalf. I'm sure you know what I mean...I"ll see you on the other side some day, I love you!
