Obituary of Ronald Peter Hricay
Ronald Peter Hricay, 82 years old, of Freeport, New York, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2024.
Ronald Peter was born on June 1, 1942, to Minnie and Ignatz Hricay in the Bronx, New York. He was raised in the Bronx and moved to Parsippany, New Jersey, in 1972. He later moved to Freeport, New York, in 2003.
After graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1960, Ronald attended Manhattan College for a year, and served 6 years in the Army National Guard in the Bronx.
Ronald began his career working at a gas station in the Bronx, New York. He later started a business, Armory Auto Parts, in 1968, where he continued to work for the next 60 years. Ronald exemplified the saying, "If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life."
In 1965, Ronald met Carol Hricay in Queens, New York. Ronald and Carol went on to have two children, Doreen Costanzo and Scott Hricay.
Ronald and Carol enjoyed weekend getaways to Atlantic City, cruise vacations, spending time at their beach house in Pt. Pleasant, New Jersey, with family and winters in Fort Lauderdale Florida.
In his early years, Ronald participated in race car events and later became the pit manager for his son Scott in motocross races. He loved boating with Carol, their daughter Doreen and Joseph Costanzo, and their grandchildren on Fire Island. Ronald also enjoyed watching sports on television, especially cheering for his New York teams.
Ronald is survived by his wife Carol Hricay, his sister Virginia Farrelly, his daughter Doreen Costanzo and her husband Joseph Costanzo, his son Scott Hricay and his wife Danielle Hricay, and his grandchildren Cameron Costanzo, Joseph Costanzo, Milo Hricay, and Grace Hricay, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ronald Peter Hricay will be remembered for his hard work, sense of humor, and dedication to his wife and family.
