Obituary of James R. Vaccacio
James R. Vaccacio “Jim” of Merrick, NY passed on Feb. 27, 2024. Jim was born September 3, 1943, son of the late Mary Alice and Louis Vincent Vaccacio, in Brooklyn, NY. He is survived by his beloved wife Anne Marie, his son Christopher, granddaughter Alyson, siblings Lois, June, Mary, and Gerard, as well as brother-in-law Thomas and sister-in-law Margaret. He is predeceased by his son John Damien, a victim of the 9-11 World Trade Center attack. Growing up in Brooklyn, Jim met the love of his life Anne Marie and they were married for 61 years. While Jim had many interests, his favorite pastime was spending time with his wife. A self-made man, born to hustle, Jimmy started as a messenger on Wall Street at the young age of 18 and worked in the stock market his entire career. His relentless work ethic helped him achieve success at firms such as Hayden Stone, Edward Hanley, and finally as a senior portfolio manager at Glickenhaus & Co. A man of deep faith, Jim was a parishioner at R.C. Church of the Sacred Heart in North Merrick for over 50 years and was always conscientious of the less fortunate, quietly donating to numerous worthy charities that needed his help. A wake will be held at N.F. Walker Funeral Home, 2039 Merrick Ave. Merrick, Monday March 4th from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at the R.C. Church of the Sacred Heart, 720 Merrick Ave., North Merrick, Tuesday March 5th at 10:30 am.
