I was just a little kid when my cousin and family all came over to Kearny, NJ to visit us during Christmas. Pictures were being taken and one was of carol and I sitting on the floor under the tree. I put my arm around her shoulder and just loved her so much.
Carol lived in Bushwick, Brooklyn when growing up. She would collect trinkets from vending machines on a Knickerbocker Avenue. When we visited my Aunt Madeline, Uncle Pauly, Jeannie and Carol in Brooklyn, Carol would let me play with her can of trinkets. I was just a little kid, but Carol always made me feel special. I wish I had more time to have spent with her. I loved her dearly.

Carol was one of my oldest friends. We met at Birch school when the boys were in kindergarten. She was the kindest most generous person I knew. Always made me feel special whenever we got together. She treated my kids like they were special.- like family. And always had gifts for them whenever we came over.
She was so proud of her family and loved them so much. Jonathan annd Jennifer are following in her footsteps- so kind and caring as well.
Carol was a very special person and will surely be missed by everyone especially the Tand family.
May she rest in peace

Among my first and fondest memories was spending what was to be a week, but later was extended for another, with my Aunt Madeline and Uncle Paul (my godfather) and my cousins Jean and Carol. That was the summer that Jean had her first job, Uncle Paul developed an ulcer, and Carol's best friend and neighbor, Janet, was on vacation with her family. And there we were, 13-year-old Carol and 10-year-old me, on our own everyday, taking the subway, taking long walks to the movie theater, shopping on Knickerbocker Avenue, and feasting on BonTon potato chips from the corner store. I think I learned a lot and matured a bit during that holiday with my cousin. Thank you, Carol, for excusing my immaturity and silliness with your grace and good humor. You were an extraordinarily wonderful companion and friend.
