Obituary of Helen R. Gleave

Helen Gleave, 92, of East Meadow NY, formerly of Valley Stream NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 23, 2022. She was married to the late Richard J. Gleave. She was born on October 7, 1930 to the late Nicholas and Nicolina Bortulich in Manhattan, New York. Helen was a wonderful person who made a lasting impression on people and touched many lives through her kindness, optimistic demeanor and cheerful smile. She liked to travel with friends and family and always was available to watch over her grandchildren who she loved very much. During her lifetime Helen worked at Con Edison and Manufactures Hanover Trust Bank. She also volunteered at Dutch Broadway elementary School in Elmont NY and taught catechism at the Sacred Heart Parish in Merrick NY. Helen will be sadly missed by her family: children, Richard Gleave and wife Diane Gleave, Michael Gleave and wife Audrey Gleave and John Gleave and wife Adrienne Gleave. Grandchildren, Christine Gleave and husband Hasan Arslan, Daniel Gleave and partner Ashley Mebert, Christopher Gleave, Melissa Gleave, Andrew Gleave, Thomas Gleave and great granddaughter Ayla Arslan. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister Mary Picinich. A memorial mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church in North Merrick NY on Friday, 10/28/22, at 10am, followed by a burial at St Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale NY.
