Edward "Ed" Nielsen, 72, of Merrick, New York, passed away on October 3rd, 2022 surrounded by those he loved. Edward was born in Brooklyn, New York, to James and Rosemary Nielsen on June 21st, 1950. He was pre-deceased by his father Jim, and is survived by his mother Rosemary, his older brother Jim, older sister Peg (George), younger sister Jeanne (Bob), and younger brother Joe (Annette). Ed was an Army veteran serving in Korea (in the DMZ). He went on to become a successful businessman in New York City for over 40 years. Ed cherished being a husband and a father. He would travel all over the world to watch his sons play soccer and baked cakes with his daughter for girl scout events. Ed enjoyed spending time with his family and two dogs, doing crosswords in the Times, reading every best seller and watching the Mets, Jets and Islanders. Loving husband of 49 years to Lynda Nielsen. Dear father of Michael (Amanda), Eric, and Krysten (Jarrod). Loving grandfather of Blake, Harper and Fisher. Beloved brother, Uncle and friend.
