Obituary of Frances A. Guercio

Frances Antonette Ciaravino Guercio, 93, of Merrick, NY, passed away on December 15, 2019.. Frances was born in Baldwin, NY on January 7, 1926. She went to Freeport High School and graduated in 1945. She went on to earn a degree in Nursing from St. John's/Mary Immaculate and a masters degree in Health Education from Adelphi University. She worked as a clinical instructor for Mary Immaculate, an OR nurse at St. Frances Hospital and 29 years for the North Merrick School District as a School Nurse teacher. She enjoyed a lifetime of community activities including Scred Heart Choir and Bell Choir, Merrick Chamber of Commerce, Merrick Symphony, Merrick Chorale and volunteered for PTA in every school. She received Merrick's 1995 Woman of the Year. Frances is survived by Her daughters Margaret F Guercio of Highland Park, NJ and Anne Ruvolo of Long Beach, NY, as well as two grandchildren Catherine Murphy and Vincent Ruvolo and grandson-in-law George Murphy.. She is also survived by her siblings Mary Rogier, Eleanor Burgmaster, Jean Grunwald and James Ciaravino. She is preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Guercio and her brothers Benedict and William Ciaravino and sister Theresa Berndt. Donations may made in her name to the Merrick Chorale.
